Every science begins as philosophy and ends as art. This quote is very true in some aspects, because some of the earlier concepts in many areas of science are devised by philosophers who had some good ideas but weren't proven to be correct. And some of the ideas of philosophy have been proven to be incorrect, but still have some use today. For example, the theory that the earth is flat was wrong, but was used for many years to show that people had more knowledge than they actually did.
